It's a Mesh: merging web, mobile and traditional marketing

We had a great trip to NYC with students from Ben Capozzi's classes at the Business of Art & Design School of Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.  A couple of the highlights of the trip were visiting Google's Chelsea headquarters and taking part in art workshops at Etsy, and I'm finally getting a few pix posted.  Great group of students! It's ironic, technophile that I am, I still don't use an e-reader and am digging in my heels to keep my physical books.  I guess eventually I'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming to surrender to the future.  Wonder how long it will be before books as we know (knew?) them will be a thing of the past, left to be whispered about in museums? Mommy, why did people turn down the corners of the paper and write beside the words? What is the paper called again- pages?

Halifax County saved itself from going a huge step backward this week by announcing the hiring of a new band director and that the high school band would continue.  Music is inherently connected with math and helps kids mathematically without their ever realizing it, and it's not just me saying it.

It's like something out of James Bond - a single "state actor" hacking into computer systems all over the world; government agencies, defense contractors, political organizations, even the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency were compromised.  McAfee's Operation Shady Rat could be the basis for an intriguing spy novel, with China at the center.

The Prizery is a wonderful asset to Southern Virginia; it not only brings us great entertainment, arts classes, and workshops, but is also a big part of our economic developers' tool box in recruiting new companies to the area. When companies consider moving to our community, they not only care about the business atmosphere, but also cultural and recreational options that are available to their employees.  The positive reactions that we continually see when prospects are first introduced to The Prizery are a testament to its value to our community; they're simply amazed that a community of our size has such a sophisticated venue.
